ANSWERS

  1. What happens during a Face the Case session?: Face the Case are live on-line tutorials using GoToWebinar.com on-line meeting software which is accessible from any computer. When you enroll, the login details are sent to you about 24-48 hours before the session. With those details you log into the GoToWebinar.com web site. You can use the a computer headset or call into the conference call using the number that is provided to you with the login details. After a brief introduction, the faculty shows the first case. All attendees i.e. Presenters and Listeners can see the case on their computer screen. The Presenter whose turn it is to present, presents the case findings, differential, diagnosis, disposition etc. to the group. The faculty as well as the attendees can hear him. At an appropriate point during the presentation, the faculty takes over, critiques the presentation and makes the teaching points. The process repeats with the next attendee whose turn it is to present until all cases are done.

  2. How many cases are shown during a Face the Case session?: There are at least 20 cases shown and discussed at each session. Each group consists of a maximum of 10 Presenters. Therefore every Presenter presents at least two cases, more if there are fewer than 10 Presenters.

  3. How long is a Face the Case session?: Each session is at least 2 hours long. However most sessions exceed that by 15-30 minutes because the faculty and the group get very involved.

  4. What is the difference between a Presenter and Listener type of enrollment?: An attendee who is enrolled as a 'Presenter' gets to take cases (at least 2, often more if the enrollment is less than 10), listen to the presentation of other Presenter attendees, listen to the faculty discussion and gets to interact with the faculty and ask questions. An attendees who is enrolled as a 'Listener' gets to only listen-in and watch the presentation of other Presenter attendees and listen to the faculty discussion. There is no interaction between the Listener attendee and the faculty.

  5. Which enrollment should I choose, Presenter or Listener?: Depends. Choose Presenter enrollment if you wish to present cases and want faculty feedback about your presentation. Choose Listener enrollment if you wish to just watch the session for review or if the Presenter spots are full.

  6. Are the cases different in different series?: Yes. For each specialty, cases are different from one series to another. For example GI Series 2 has cases that are different from GI series 1. Series 1 will be scheduled in February and March. Series 2 will be scheduled in April and May. Special series on some important topics like GI MR, barium etc are also planned

  7. What is Quick Series?: Quick series is a totally unique and extremely rewarding experience designed especially for the October 2013 exam The idea is that most of you have already experienced the exam. What you need now is for the faculty to show you cases and demonstrate how to present them. This is a 'listeners only' series. 30 new high yield cases are shown in 2 hours. For each case, first you send in your diagnosis. Then the faculty shows you how to present and discuss that case.

  8. All the seniors in our group want to arrange Face The Case sessions just for our group. Is it possible?: Yes. A group of residents can request to reserve the whole Presenter section. In fact, you can also arrange sessions on particular days suitable to you. Contact us if you need to do that

  9. I want to do private Face The Case sessions. Is it possible?: Yes. An individual can request to reserve the whole Presenter section for a private session. You can also arrange sessions on particular days suitable to you. Contact us if you need to do that. However, please be mindful of the cost because you are reserving the entire Presenter section of the session.

  10. Do you give out session handouts?: Generally no. Rarely, specific faculty may decide to give out some written information.
